US Army Helicopter Brigade To Be Deployed to Europe. Unit Expected to Operate in Poland Too

Within the framework of the Operation Atlantic Resolve, 1750 soldiers of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade which is a part of the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army, are going to be deployed to Europe.

US Army announced that this winter, around 1750 soldiers of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade which is a part of the 10th Mountain Division are going to be deployed in Europe. At the moment, the said unit is stationed at Fort Drum in the state of New York.

General Jeffrey L. Bannister, Commander of the 10th Mountain Division said that he could not have been more proud of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade and the support provided by the unit all around the world, during the last 18 months. General Bannister said that the training through which the soldiers went will ensure full readiness for meeting the support requirements, within the scope of providing the assistance for the Atlantic Resolve operation within the European Theatre.

Elements of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade are to be deployed to Europe, and this deployment is to constitute a part of a 9 months long rotation. The unit is to be based in the town of Illesheim, in the Eastern part of Germany (Bavaria). The element’s helicopters are expected to take part in the operations undertaken on the Eastern NATO flank, they are going to be deployed to Latvia, Romania and Poland.

The unit deployed in Europe will probably operate Apache, Black Hawk, and maybe Chinook rotorcraft. 10th CAB will constitute a major reinforcement of the US Army aviation in Europe, the core of which is currently formed by the 12th Brigade stationed in Germany.
