As we read on the Polish Armed Forces website, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss Polish-British cooperation in the area of military engineering. The possibility of involving British engineering troops in the implementation of the Eastern Shield programme was also considered.

The visit to the Zapor (pol. „Barrier”) a Training and Test Facility at the Orzysz Land Forces Training Centre included a meeting between Brigadier Carvel and the head of the Military Engineering Department of the Armed Forces General Command, Major General Marek Wawrzyniak. It was at the Orzysz training ground that the first tests of elements of Eastern Shield took place.

The project was presented in May last year, and in November the first works began.
