The first meeting of the army, industry and science ambassadors who are the members of the council took place on September 16. in Warsaw. MoD Secretary of State Czesław Mroczek and Head of the Council, Brigade General Zygmunt Mierczyk have nominated 30 members of the council.
In order to provide modern, state-of-the-art equipment for the Polish Armed Forces, which is needed nowadays, we need to get scientific and industrial circles involved
The Council members include, among others, representatives of the arms industry, Polish Academy of Science, and finally military and non-military research institutes, military universities and additionally rectors of technical universities. The members will be appointed for 4-year period by the MoD secretary of state, upon request of the Head of the Council.
The Council is a forum, through which information would be exchanged in between the industry, research institutes and the scientists.
The Council is to be responsible for preparing scientific reports, feasibility opinions for strategic R&D programmes involving the National Center for R&D and National Science Center, and for creating opinions on the activities undertaken by the European Defence Agency within the scope of scientific and R&D activities.
The Council will also examine conceptions of using strategic programmes and development works which have been already started. In the nearest future it will deal with the anti-aircraft and anti-missile defence systems for the Polish Army.
