Grom MANPADS deal with Lithuania
On September 2nd, during the Kielce International Defence Industry Exhibition a 10 year contract worth 34 million euro regarding the production and delivery of Grom MANPADS for the Lithuanian Armed Forces has been signed.
The agreement has been signed by Czesłąw Mroczek, who is the Secretary of State of the Polish Ministry of National defence and Brig. Gen. Gintautas Zenkevicius, who was representing the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence. The Polish minister was accompanied by the representatives from Mesko S.A. company, which is to be the main executive party of the contract.
Signing the agreement is tantamount with starting the production. The first 4 million euro worth supply is to be delivered this year. Besides the production of the MANPADS, the contract also includes transfer of all the equipment needed, including training devices and training programme. Lithuania will become the fourth foreign user of Grom MANPADS, joining the group consisting of Indonesia, Georgia and Japan.
Mesko's success is even more significant, since its representatives have signed a memorandum of understanding with the French MBDA company. This documents formalizes the long-term cooperation between the partnerrs. According to Mesko, this cooperation may take shape which is to be more realistic.
