On September 2nd, during the 22nd International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce, an official inauguration of the Polish Armament Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa) took place. The initial meeting was attended by Minister of Defence and Minister of Treasury of Poland – Tomasz Siemoniak and Włodzimierz Karpiński. They were accompanied by the president of the new company - Wojciech Dąbrowski.

It is a historic moment! We've made it! All that we have been talking about several years ago came true – said Tomasz Siemoniak during the inauguration of the PGZ.

The Polish military officials were waiting for this very moment. Ever since we wanted to have one partner on the side of the defence industry. Many great projects and initiatives have been unsuccessful, due to the competition between the state-owned companies – Siemoniak added.

Minister of Treasury agreed with Tomasz Siemoniak. Włodzimierz Karpiński, stated:

The present moment is symbolic – the consolidated Polish defence companies will, for the first time in history, be treated as one common brand. The place is symbolic as well – it is the Holy Cross Mountains region where the Central Industrial Region was established during the times of the People's Republic of Poland. That initiative has been a foundation of the contemporary Polish industry, and it let us create solid foundations for the Polish defence industry. We're going back to the roots.

Polish Armament Group is to consist out of over 30 companies (including companies acting in the defence, offshore, shipyard and new technology sectors), with a yearly turnover of PLN 4.5 billion and over 19 thousand employees. The consolidation process will create one of the biggest defence companies in the Mid-Eastern Europe.

The Group has already absorbed state-owned companies and companies owned by the Agency of Industrial Development. Manufacturers and trade companies that are concentrated in the Polish Defence Holding will be incorporated in the Polish Armament Group at the further stage of its evolution. The consolidation is to be finished later this year.

The strategic aim of PGZ is to create a strong and modern business, which is an important element of the national security. The group wants to achieve a leading position of a manufacturer, who would produce modern and technologically advanced equipment for the contemporary armed forces.
