10 Million Rounds of Ammunition for the Polish Police

Polish Police announced a procurement order, the aim of which is to acquire more than 10 million rounds of pistol ammunition. According to the information released by the General Police Headquarters of Poland, the acquisition process to be realizedis going to include purchases of 9 mm Parabellum and Makarov rounds, with FMJ bullets, frangible ammunition and training non-lethal paint FX Simunition rounds.

The order, placed by the General Police Headquarters, is divided into four parts. It covers, in total, acquisition of 10 million combat 9 mm Parabellum rounds, more than 100 thousand 9 mm Makarov rounds, and several thousand rounds of non-lethal ammunition.

The first part of the order concerns acquisition of 9 million 9x19 mm Parabellum TFMJ (Total Full Metal Jacket) rounds with a lead core. These bullets will be used with Walther P-99, Glock and CZ pistols, and PM-98, UMP and MP-5 automatic weapons.

The second part of the potential procurement is related to the 9x18 mm Makarov pistol ammunition, with a FMJ bullet (Full Metal Jacket). This ammunition will be used to act against human threats, technical equipment or training targets, with the use of the P-64 and P-83 pistols which are a part of the inventory widely applied by the Polish Police. 103 thousand rounds of the Makarov ammunition are planned to be purchased.

The third part of the order covers purchase of one million 9x19 mm Parabellum rounds, with a non-toxic JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) bullet, with limited ricocheting potential. The round is expected to have a brass casing, similarly as in the remaining cases.

Moreover, according to the available information, the Police officers are also going to receive water-proof ammunition, characterized by muzzle energy of 360-605 ft-lbs for a 150 mm long barrel.

Fourth part of the procurement covers the non-lethal 9 mm training rounds for the Glock FX pistols and for the FX Simunition adapters used with the HK MP5A3 machine pistols, as well as with the FB Łucznik conversion kits for the Glauberyt machine pistol. The Police wants to acquire more than 43 thousand non-lethal paint rounds, in at least 2 colours.

The procedure is being realized as an unlimited tender, in which any interested potential contractor may submit his offer, as a response to a public procurement announcement.

The offer placing deadline in case of the said tender expires on 25th May this year. The offers will be selected on the basis of the gross price criterion (weight of 90) and on the basis of the criterion related to the guarantee term (weight of 10). The deliveries are to be executed starting from 1st July, until 31st October this year.
