Rafael supplies 1,000th TYPHOON unit to Israeli Navy

The Israeli Navy has been bolstered by another stabilised naval remote-controlled weapon station, with a total of one thousand units now delivered to various users. The TYPHOON Mk-30c station, supplied by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, is intended to further arm, among others, the Israeli Sa’ar 6 corvettes.

Rafael’s remote-controlled weapon station has been in operational service with the Israeli Navy for over 25 years. Furthermore, the system is utilised by 25 other navies worldwide (including in the USA).

What are the primary tasks of the TYPHOON system? Countering small, fast threats with a “low radar signature”. This refers to both surface and aerial targets (including unmanned aerial vehicles).

“The system features high-capacity ammunition magazines, ensuring continuous engagement, rapid switching between different types of ammunition depending on the nature of the threat, and automated functions that shorten reaction times and reduce operator workload. The system is also fed with advanced ammunition, including programmable (ABM) and high-explosive proximity-fused (HEP) rounds, increasing its effectiveness against both aerial and surface threats,” Rafael stated in a special communiqué.
