Ukrainian F-16 crashed

The Ukrainian Air Force has reported the crash of an F-16 fighter jet. The pilot managed to eject, and no one was injured in the incident.
“We inform you that on 29 July 2026, communication with the F-16 fighter of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was lost. In one of the directions of the front, the pilot performed a combat mission to intercept enemy air targets. According to preliminary data, an emergency situation occurred on board the aircraft. The pilot was forced to eject,” read a statement by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
The pilot is “completely safe” and was successfully evacuated after ejecting. The causes of the incident are being established. Currently, Ukraine possesses around 50 older-generation F-16 fighter jets that have been modernised and delivered by the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway.
They are mostly used for drone and cruise missile interception and performing strikes on ground targets. However, an exception occurred on 8 July, when the first shoot-down of a Russian Su-35 fighter by an F-16 took place, as reported by Ukrainian media. The loss was also confirmed by Russian sources.
