President of the Management Board of the “Łucznik” Radom Firearms Factory, and Commander of the Central Prison Officers Training Centre located in Kalisz, have concluded an agreement concerning the acquisition of 40 examples of the MSBS-5,56R ceremonial rifles, destined to be used by the Prison Officers Representative (Honorary) Company.

During the MSPO event in Kielce, Adam Suliga, President of the Management Board at the “Łucznik” Radom Arms Factory, and Lt. Col. Krzysztof Jędrzejak, Commander of the Central Prison Officcers Training Centre, have concluded an agreement, covering the acquisition of 40 examples of the MSBS-5,56R ceremonial carbines for the Honorary Company of the Prison Officers. Total value of the contract exceeds, as the available information suggests, the amount of PLN 440,000.

As it was stated by Lt. Col. Jędrzejak, Commander of the Central Prison Officers Training Centre based in Kalisz, the delivery of the ceremonial rifles manufactured in Radom would mean that the Prison Officers of Poland are to receive equipment which is 100% Polish.

Being a part of the honorary service, with domestically manufactured weaponry in our hands, will be a privilege for us

Lt. Col. Krzysztof Jędrzejak

The guns, the procurement of which is covered by the agreement concluded, are a design developed by the FB Radom and by the Military University of Technology, as an effect of close cooperation with the Warsaw Garrison Command. The new weapon is to replace the post-soviet Type 1945 SKS ceremonial rifles used by the Polish Army’s ceremonial units. The SKS gun dates back to the World War 2. The official presentation of the newly developed ceremonial carbine took place on 1st July 2014, during the opening ceremony related to the new headquarters of the Radom-based arms manufacturer. A minor batch of the new rifles has already been received by the ceremonial units of the Polish Army.

Adam Suliga, FB Radom President of the Management Board, stresses the fact that the carbine is a design which has been developed in Poland. It is a modular weapon, which may be properly adapted and reconfigured, depending on the needs. This means that the Prison Officers will also get a chance to use the new rifles in their combat version, only by replacing the barrel.

MSBS-5.56R mm ceremonial carbine is a derivative of the MSBS Carbine. The weapon uses solely blank cartridges. When compared with its pre-requisite, the MSBS Carbine, the ceremonial variant features a 508 mm long barrel and a longer stock. The magazine has a capacity of 10 rounds, while the weapon is equipped with a fixed, reinforced butt.

The ceremonial carbine is a non-automatic firearm. All of the reloading procedures are carried out by the user of the weapon, manually. A special barrel module constitutes the main difference between the combat and the ceremonial variant.
