Polish-Ukrainian Forum for Defence Industry Cooperation

Polish-Ukrainian Forum for Defence Industry Cooperation has been organized in Warsaw. The event was opened by the PM’s Chief of Staff, Michał Dworczyk. It involved numerous representatives of the state administration, diplomats, and representatives of the state- and privately-owned consortia and defence businesses from both states. The meeting was organized by Defence24.pl and the Ministry of Development and Technology was the key partner.

The event that took place in Warsaw on 23rd June involved numerous Polish and Ukrainian defence industry entities, such as the PGZ Group, WB Group, Lubawa, Ukrobronprom, and its subsidiaries, as well as the PKP Cargo company that plays a key role in securing the logistics surrounding the provision of aid to Ukraine.

The main goal of the forum was to inspire a dialogue on opportunities and options for enhancing the effective use of potential available to the Polish and Ukrainian defence industries. This should lead to the enhancement of the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of both nations, and reinforcement of the global footprint of both industries.

It was assumed that the integration of both sides' efforts in the area of technologies and R&D, shared search for sales markets, and broadening of the export opportunities may bring tangible economic benefits to both Poland and Ukraine. It was concluded that cooperation of the entities forming the Polish and Ukrainian defence industry may lead to higher efficiency in using the top-class experts, also when it comes to creating new jobs.

The forum also covered the topic of limitations hampering the dynamics of cooperation between the Polish and Ukrainian defence industries. A certain portion of the meeting was related to the discussion of opportunities and chances to cooperate that could be used by the industries of both states. The forum resulted in a preliminary definition of political and strategic recommendations, the implementation of which may enhance the cooperation between the Polish and Ukrainian defence industries.

The representatives of the Ukrainian industry were thanking the Polish community for the support provided to Kiyv facing the unlawful Russian aggression. It was stressed that the support provided inspires the Ukrainians to courageously and continuously fight and deter the aggressor.
