“Our long-range ‘sanctions’ remain a fully justified response to Russian attacks. Last night, FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles were launched as part of the Armed Forces’ Deep Strike operation, targeting several enemy sites, particularly facilities of the military-industrial complex in Cheboksary,” reads a statement by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram. According to the president, the defence plant produced relay protection systems, automation equipment, and low-voltage apparatus. The manufactured navigation components were subsequently supplied to the Russian Navy, missile industry, aviation sector, and armored forces.

The FP-5 Flamingo is a domestically produced Ukrainian missile. As reported by The Economist, by the end of October 2025, Ukraine was expected to manufacture seven such missiles per day. They are used to strike energy and military infrastructure targets in Russia. Alongside drones, Flamingo cruise missiles provide another means of attacking targets deep inside Russian territory. The missile is capable of carrying a 1,150 kg warhead over a distance of up to 3,000 kilometers.
