Elsi Paas is a researcher specializing in Russia’s domestic and foreign policy, with a focus on its activities, influence, and role in shaping regional and global geopolitical dynamics. She has worked with the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute and the International Centre for Defence and Security, contributing to analysis of geopolitical and security developments, and completed an internship at the Estonian Ministry of Culture. Her academic work on Estonia and beyond integrates philology, anthropology, and international relations, enabling her to analyze Russia’s behavior across different states and its societal and political impact, while also applying this interdisciplinary perspective to broader geopolitical developments. Her work has addressed social dynamics in Estonia and the role of Russian narratives in shaping the information space, including her master’s thesis on Russian propaganda. Her interests include geopolitics, influence operations, information warfare, societal resilience, and the intersection of security and socio-cultural processes. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Russian Philology and Anthropology, and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Tallinn University.
