More drones in the Estonian airspace

None of the drones were shot down over the country’s territory. The incident was linked to Ukrainian attacks on Russia.

For more than a week, Ukrainian drones have been striking Russian targets over the Baltic Sea. Another such attack took place during the night of March 30–31. It is highly probable that some of the drones veered off course and violated Estonian airspace. The targets are located in the Leningrad Oblast, which borders Estonia. This is the highest level of military activity in the region since 1944, according to Colonel Uku Arold, head of the Strategic Communications Department at the Estonian Defence Forces General Staff.

Authorities also reported the discovery of drone debris east of the city of Tartu, near Lake Peipus on the border with Russia. Reports of drone fragments found in other locations are currently being investigated.

Last week, a Ukrainian drone struck the chimney of a power plant in Auvere, Estonia. The target of that attack was the same as the recent one — the Russian port of Ust-Luga. As long as Ukraine is capable of performing such operations, it will keep attacking, and thus more incidents of this kind are to be expected in the region.
