Deputy Minister of National Defence Paweł Bejda and the Armament Agency announced the latest delivery of military equipment from the Republic of Korea for the Polish Armed Forces.

According to the report, another shipment of military hardware produced in the Republic of Korea for the needs of the Polish Armed Forces has arrived in Poland. This shipment included nine K2 tanks, which means that there are now above 130 tanks of this type in Poland.

Under the executive agreement signed in August 2022, Poland ordered a total of 180 such tanks, with deliveries scheduled through 2025. These tanks are currently equipping units within three brigades of the 16th Mechanized Division: the 20th Mechanized Brigade, the 9th Armored Cavalry Brigade, and the 15th Giżycko Mechanized Brigade.

As Defence24.pl recently reported, the executive contract for the delivery of 180 K2/K2PL tanks—including technology transfer for their production and servicing, as well as support vehicles—has been under price negotiations for some time and is simultaneously undergoing review by the State Attorney Office.

This shipment also included nine Homar-K multiple-rocket-launcher modules, meaning that there should now be at least 99 such modules in Poland. Of course, these are being integrated onto Polish Jelcz chassis, so their handover to the military will take some time. In total, 290 launchers have been ordered under two executive agreements from 2022 and 2024, the second of which also covers technology transfer for the production and servicing of launchers and 122 mm rocket modules. Under a third executive agreement, the capability to produce CGR-080 rockets—with an 80 km range—will be established in Poland, and in the future, other munitions as well.
