Russian drone strikes Romania. NATO responds
On the night of May 28–29, Russia carried out further attacks on Ukraine. One of the Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) entered Romanian airspace and struck a residential building complex in the city of Galați. No fatalities were reported.
In connection with the attack, F-16 aircraft were scrambled. At 01:19 AM, two F-16 fighter jets on Air Policing duty were scrambled from the 86th Air Base in Fetești. The operation was also supported by an IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter of the Romanian Air Force. The pilots received authorization to engage targets throughout their entire presence in Romanian airspace.
