Cyber security and regional cooperation: Poland–Ukraine
Poland and Ukraine continue to strengthen cooperation in the field of cyber security, focusing on joint resilience against hybrid threats and Russian cyber operations. As part of this effort, both sides are developing new mechanisms for information sharing, capacity building, and technological collaboration between institutions responsible for digital transformation and national defence.
In this context, Defence24.com spoke with Vitalii Balashov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, about the current state of Polish–Ukrainian cooperation and the shared challenges both countries face in cyberspace.
As part of the Cyber 24 Day 2025 event, Deputy Minister Balashov and Polish experts discussed strategic priorities, the role of public–private partnerships, and how closer cooperation with Poland can enhance Ukraine’s cyber resilience in wartime conditions.
According to Deputy Minister Balashov, Ukraine’s experience in countering large-scale Russian cyber aggression offers valuable lessons for the entire region. Joint initiatives with Poland, he emphasised, are not only about exchanging technology or expertise — they are about building a trusted security community capable of responding swiftly to cross-border digital threats.
Poland and Ukraine are thus deepening their collaboration within the EU and NATO frameworks, with a focus on strengthening defences against disinformation, cyber espionage, and critical infrastructure attacks.
