After almost four years of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Orange is considering leaving this market. So far, it has stayed there to support NGOs and diplomatic representations.

The company’s revenue from Russia currently accounts for less than 1% of its total income. The company is considering selling its outlets or outright closing them. With the outbreak of war in February 2022, the French company decided to suspend all new business activities in Russia and Belarus. Services continued to be provided to existing clients. The clientele included non-governmental organizations, embassies, and large international companies.

Orange employed 800 people in Russia. Employees from outside Russia have been repatriated, and local teams are running the company’s operations on site. At the moment, the problem remains the legal feasibility of a withdrawal. The internal committee dedicated to economic sanctions closely monitors international regulations and assesses the risks for the group.

For now, Orange remains one of the last major French tech companies in Russia. Orange is also present in Russia via Globecast Moskva, an entity specialising in the distribution of video content. The entity achieved a loss of 384,000 euros in 2024. The sale of Globecast was launched at the end of 2025 and some candidates have shown interest in acquiring the entity.
