Polish F-35 to be Rolled Out

The first Polish F-35A fighter, named Husarz (PL: Winged Hussar), is due to be rolled out on 28 August 2024. Currently, a high-ranking Polish delegation, including the Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda, is visiting US to witness the roll-out.

Poland purchased 32 F-35A aircraft, along with a logistic support package, training and simulators back in 2020, for USD 4.6 billion. The first aircraft are to arrive in Poland in 2026, the rest will follow until 2030. While the first F-35s are to be handed to Poland in 2024, at the beginning they will be used for training in US.

It is worth mentioning that Poland subsequently purchased weapon systems for F-35s such as AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles as well as AGM-158B-2 JASSM cruise missiles, and other procurements including AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder missiles and AARGM-ER anti-radiation missiles have been approved by the Department of State and Congress as well.

Currently, a high-ranking delegation from Poland, led by Paweł Bejda, Polish Deputy Minister of Defence is visiting US to witness the roll-out. Bejda has already taken part in discussions with DSCA Agency Head Michael M. Miller as well as the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Wiliam LaPlante. He also met with General Dynamics Land Systems representatives, as GDLS is manufacturing Abrams tanks and support equipment to be delivered to the Polish Land Forces.
