The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic has announced a tender for the purchase of several types of drones. The total value of the contract may exceed 20 million euros.

The Czech Army will soon be reinforced with a large number of unmanned systems. By the end of 2026, various types of drones are expected to be delivered, primarily intended for reconnaissance, monitoring, and documentation of specific events (such as training exercises), reports Novinky. The procurement includes, among others, 42 multicopters weighing nearly twenty kilograms, capable of continuous flight for about 50 minutes, as well as 400 smaller multirotor drones (weighing up to 2.5 kg).

Importantly, the tender includes a clause specifying the country of origin of the potential machines. The acquisition of unmanned aerial vehicles from countries such as Russia, Iran, North Korea, or China is prohibited, as these have been classified as “risky or hostile” products to Czech national security.
