German cargo ship attacked by Russia
A German freighter has been targeted by Russian drones in the Black Sea. The ship was evacuated and no one was injured.
According to Bild and the Hamburger Morgenpost, the vessel „Emil” was struck several times on Wednesday about 21 nautical miles off the Ukrainian city of Odessa. The ship sails under the flag of Liberia; however, it belongs to the Hamburg shipping company Johann M.K. Blumenthal GmbH & Co. KG.
The cargo vessel was not the only German asset targeted by Russian attacks. On Wednesday, a highly explosive drone was discovered at Leipzig Airport with four Ukrainian aircraft nearby. A team of experts from the Federal Police had to defuse the charge. The perpetrator is yet unknown, but someone connected to Russian intelligence is suspected.

During the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, several warehouses of German brands were damaged or destroyed by Russian missiles. The lubricant manufacturer Liqui Moly, the sporting goods manufacturer Puma and the technology group Bosch were all affected. These events show that Ukraine really is not the only one experiencing the cost of war, although it feels it the most.
