Ukraine attacks the port in Rostov-on-Don in Russia

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced the successful attack on the Russian port on the X platform. “Last night, our long-range sanctions were effective in the Rostov region. An export terminal approximately 250 kilometres from the front line was hit. Deep strikes also targeted oil facilities in the Yaroslavl region and the Udmurt Republic, which is 1,300 kilometres from Ukraine’s state border. We are carrying out our plan of long-range sanctions and reducing Russia’s ability to finance the war,” the post reads.

The cargo section of the port was hit, and fires broke out at the impact sites. According to the Governor of the Rostov Region, Yuri Slyusar, two people were killed and five were injured as a result of the attack. The port of Rostov-on-Don has a handling capacity of up to 18 billion tonnes of goods per year. Due to regular Ukrainian drone attacks, port operations have been reduced to a minimum.

Simultaneously, an operation is underway targeting Russian vessels in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, including ships belonging to the shadow fleet. At present, Ukrainian forces have attacked a total of nearly 200 vessels.
