Squat 50 Exercise: Lubliniec Commandos Supporting the Polish F-16 Fighters

Squat-50 exercise organized in South-Western Part of Poland involved the F-16 Jastrząb fighter jets and the teams of joint terminal attack controllers of the Polish Lubliniec Commando unit, as the Polish General Command of the Armed Forces announced.

During the Squat-50 exercise, taking place in the south-western part of Poland, within the area located in between Wrocław, Piotrków Trybunalski and Częstochowa, F-16 Jastrząb fighters were involved in a ground attack training exercise, with the soldiers of the Lubliniec Commando Unit acting as Joint Terminal Attack Controllers.

This type of training is organized in quite regularly, in a recurring manner. Its purpose is to develop unified operational algorithms. The Lubliniec-based commandos, during the exercise, guided the F-16 jets performing the ground attack runs. Squat-50 exercise, within which skills of the commandos and the pilots were being verified, was to prepare the elements to work within the framework of the Polish military deployments – as the announcement published by the General Command of the Armed Forces reads.

More similar operations are planned in the future. During the next exercise, the procedures related to calling in the Close Air Support are going to be checked.
