Polish–Swedish cooperation and digital security
Poland and Sweden are deepening their cooperation in the field of security at a time of growing geopolitical uncertainty and rapid digital transformation. In an interview with Defence24.com, Diana Janse, State Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, discusses the strategic importance of bilateral collaboration and the link between digitalisation and defence.
As part of Defence24’s coverage on European security, Dr Aleksander Olech spoke with the State Secretary about the added value of Polish–Swedish cooperation in the area of security and how technological change is reshaping the region’s defence landscape. The conversation highlighted the significance of close coordination within NATO and the European Union, particularly as both countries face new challenges in the Baltic Sea region.
According to the State Secretary, digitalisation has become a central element of national and collective defence, influencing how states prepare for hybrid threats and protect critical infrastructure. Innovation and technology are not only tools of modernisation but essential factors in strengthening resilience, deterrence, and strategic autonomy across Europe.
