Is Russia preparing for another mobilisation? Recruitment offices are hiring
Numerous job vacancies related to military registration have appeared in Russia. According to reports from Russian media and social media accounts, this may signal an anticipated next wave of mobilisation.
The number of specialists being sought exceeds 2,500. This is a significant figure, considering that in 2022, when Russia actually carried out the mobilisation of 350,000 conscripts, approximately 500 people were sought for similar positions – many times fewer. However, the reasons for this new phenomenon could be diverse.
Russian commentators note that, for example, last winter advertisements appeared with offers for recruiters who were tasked with encouraging others to serve, including drawing Russian students into the military. After signing the documents, however, it turned out that such a „recruiter” did not recruit anyone, but instead was sent to the front line to join assault units himself. There is a theory that the current campaign is something similar, if only due to the large number of „positions” being offered.

Other commentators note, however, that in the winter, such recruiters were sought from among men over 45 years of age without education or employment – essentially various types of misfits. Now, by contrast, genuine specialists in military registration are reportedly being sought. This may, therefore, be connected to a planned mobilisation, or at least to the anticipation of such a decision by the Kremlin.
There is also a theory that is perhaps the least concerning, relating to changes in Russian law. Recently, authorities in Russia increased the burden on companies regarding the military registration of their own employees. It could, therefore, be a matter of enforcing this type of legislation.
