European Parliament opens permanent office in Kyiv

The European Parliament has opened a permanent office in Kyiv, marking a clear political and practical step in its cooperation with Ukraine.

The office, co-located with the EU Delegation, demonstrates that support for Ukraine goes beyond statements. A permanent presence allows for daily engagement with the Verkhovna Rada and closer monitoring of the reforms linked to EU membership.

The move follows commitments made after Ukraine was granted EU candidate status in 2022 and the signing of a renewed memorandum of understanding between both parliaments in 2023. Since then, parliamentary cooperation has focused on building institutional capacity and aligning legislative practices.

Establishing a permanent base in Kyiv also sends a strategic message: Europe will maintain its support despite the ongoing war. For Ukraine, it underlines that integration with the EU is not a distant goal but a process supported on the ground, every day.
