The Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom has warned the British government regarding Ukraine’s use of British drones. How did London respond?
“London is deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis, while hypocritically professing a desire for peace,” the Russian Embassy wrote in a statement. “The deeper its involvement in the conflict and the greater its support for Kiev’s terrorist machinery, the higher the price it will pay,” the statement concludes.
A spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defence was asked by the BBC to comment on the statement. He replied that his country stands “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine and will continue to provide the equipment necessary to defend against Russian aggression. “Russia should be in no doubt about this government’s determination to stand up to Russian aggression, in Ukraine and against the United Kingdom and our allies.”
On Monday, 18 August, reports emerged regarding Ukraine’s use of British drones to attack military and industrial facilities, including refineries and warehouses belonging to the Wildberries retail chain. According to the BBC, damage is estimated at over 35 billion dollars.
Facilities belonging to Wildberries have been under attack for a month. Aside from their civilian use, they are reportedly being used to supply the Russian army at the front, which would make them legitimate military targets. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence reported on Sunday that seven of the company’s ten main logistics centres had been “immobilised”.
