Zelenskyy: Air defence missile supplies drop threefold

“Unfortunately, supplies of anti-ballistic capabilities from partners have decreased significantly this year. The number of air defence missiles supplied has dropped threefold compared with 2025. And this concerns not only this summer period, but every period of the first half of 2026. Our partners do have the missiles. It is important that the necessary political decisions on supplies and the acceleration of production processes are ultimately made – including decisions on localisation in Ukraine,” reads the president’s post on the X platform.

Zelenskyy also reported on plans to continue attacks on targets inside Russian territory and the need to impose further sanctions on the aggressor. “It is important that our partners’ sanctions against Russia reinforce the impact of our long-range capabilities. We will discuss this with key countries. There are additional measures worth implementing in sanctions policy,” Zelenskyy stated.

Russia, meanwhile, is effectively responding to Ukrainian shortages in air defence. We are hearing far more frequently about attacks using ballistic and cruise missiles, which, while more expensive than drones, are also much harder to intercept. Moscow is also receiving further units of these types of missiles from its partners, including North Korea.
