Via a response to a parliamentary inquiry, we now know how much the Polish Ministry of Defence (MON) spent on purchasing armaments from the Polish defense industry (Polski Przemysł Zbrojeniowy, abbreviated PPO in defence discourses) in the first half of 2025.
The question about the MoD’s budget expenditures on modernization, allocated with the domestic industry in 2025 was posed by PiS MP and former defence minister Mariusz Błaszczak. From the answer provided by MoD Secretary Paweł Bejda, we learn that between January 1 and June 30, 2025, contracts totalling PLN 21.889 billion were signed from the MoD’s budget via the Armaments Agency.
Of that amount, PLN 6.995 billion went to companies within the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ Group). Contracts with other Polish firms (outside PGZ) amounted to PLN 776 million. Foreign entities received orders worth PLN 14.158 billion.
Additionally, from the Polish MoD’s budget, PGZ companies received a further PLN 175.9 million under ten contracts concluded by other executing agencies (outside the Armament Agency). Polish defence businesses not affiliated with PGZ were paid invoices totalling approximately PLN 413 million under 97 contracts during the same period. Under one contract with a foreign defense manufacturer, roughly PLN 150 million was spent in the first half of 2025.
