In May of this year, the rotation of U.S. Army soldiers in Poland was suspended. In the coming weeks, the Americans will return to Poland. More information is also emerging regarding a potential permanent U.S. military base in Poland.

Polish Deputy Minister of National Defence Cezary Tomczyk confirmed that several thousand American soldiers will arrive in Poland within the next eight weeks – however, this will not be the same rotation that was scheduled to arrive in May. In total, approximately 10,000 soldiers from the United States will be stationed in Poland under the rotational formula.

The topic of a potential permanent U.S. military presence on Polish territory is also gaining momentum. During the NATO summit in Ankara, this subject was one of the points of discussion between Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. „The next step regarding American bases was discussed. We know that the U.S. force posture review will not affect Poland,” said Cezary Tomczyk. The minister added that the Polish side presented potential locations for permanent bases to the Americans. The most likely locations for these types of bases are the areas surrounding Poznań and Wrocław.
