The invisible B-2 sinks a ship in the Pacific
The United States Air Force has announced the successful testing of new strike capabilities for the B-2 Spirit strategic bomber.
American B-2 Spirit aircraft successfully deployed LRASM (Long Range Anti-Ship Missile) missiles during the recent Valiant Shield 26 exercises, which primarily focused on the defense of the Second Island Chain. Consequently, the tests were conducted in the vicinity of the Mariana Islands (home to a U.S. base on the island of Guam).
The stealth bomber destroyed a surface target (a decommissioned vessel) as part of a SINKEX (sinking exercise) operation.
“By prioritizing maritime strike operations, we can maintain a decisive advantage over adversaries, protect our national interests, and ensure a free and open Pacific, which is the foundation of our global security,” summarized Gen. Kevin B. Schneider, Commander of Pacific Air Forces.
B-2 Spirit
The B-2 Spirit strategic bomber is an aircraft manufactured by the American company Northrop Grumman. The United States Air Force possesses nearly 20 of these machines. In the coming years, the B-2 Spirit is scheduled to be replaced by B-21 Raider strategic bombers.
