The Workhorse of the Air Force to Be Modernized. Contract Signed
At Airbus’ facility in Okęcie, a contract was signed for the MLU (Mid-Life Upgrade) of the C-295M light transport aircraft.
The contract covers modernization work on 16 aircraft, valued at EUR 102.7 million. The upgrades shall be carried out between 2025 and 2033. This agreement will enable, among other improvements, equipping the C-295M transport fleet with modern avionics systems and enhancing their operational capabilities.
“We are in the hangar where CASA aircraft are continuously being produced. These aircraft are used by the Polish Armed Forces but are also trusted by other countries. The C-295M aircraft have served us during the most challenging moments, including missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. I want to thank the pilots and ground crews who maintain these aircraft. Sixteen of these planes are currently in use in Poland. They support military operations and participate in humanitarian missions, such as the Akcja Serce initiative to save lives.

We have been operating CASA aircraft for a long time, but now we are investing in modernization. We aim to achieve a high standard of security, which requires continuous upgrades and transformation. We want these aircraft to remain state-of-the-art. We will be flying even better equipment, of which we are already proud. For our government, two issues are paramount — security and the economy. I am pleased that this modernization will take place as part of a European partnership. Two aircraft will be upgraded in Spain, while the remaining 14 will be modernized in Poland,” said Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during the contract signing ceremony.
