The Swedish Minister of Defence, in an interview with Rzeczpospolita, announced that his country intends to purchase drones in Poland for Ukraine’s needs.

„I visited the WB Group and you truly have impressive capabilities in the unmanned aerial systems field, you are very innovative. However, we should have more balanced arms purchase relations between Poland and Sweden. That is why, in our latest aid package for Ukraine, we have reserved part of the funds for purchases from the Polish defence industry. Because you are closer to the front, you have unique knowledge. I believe that the cooperation between the Swedish and Polish defence industries will develop dynamically,” said Pål Jonson to „Rz”.

The head of Sweden’s defence ministry did not specify what types of drones are to be ordered from Grupa WB. It is also unclear what the eventual cost of the order and its scale will be. Both strike drones produced by WB – Warmate – and reconnaissance drones, FlyEye, are in operation in Ukraine. The latter are extensively used by the Ukrainians, both over Ukraine and in operations, among others, in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

These systems have proven their usefulness by directing fire from, among others, HIMARS systems against command points, concentrations of manpower, or air defence and electronic warfare systems.
