In December 2025, the Pentagon and the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced that the State Department had approved a multi-billion dollar arms sale to Taiwan. The package, valued at approximately $11 billion, was to include, among others, HIMARS launchers and ATACMS systems. According to information provided by Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao, the delivery of the ordered equipment will have to be suspended. The reason is the U.S. involvement in the war against Iran.

„Right now, we are pausing to ensure we have the munitions required for Epic Fury – and we have plenty,” Cao reportedly said during Thursday’s testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Defense. „We just want to make sure we have everything we need, but foreign military sales will resume once the administration deems it necessary,” he continued.

In the last weeks, some European countries had also been informed by the Pentagon of possible delays in the delivery of the weapons they had ordered.
